Whoever you are, family of a patient, close or less close, acquaintances through networks or organisations: join us by making a donation ! 

There are 3 main sources of funding for rare disease research programmes:

• Public sources/public funds, these are generally government research foundations: they fund academic projects so that it is an academic, researcher or doctor who makes the request for specific research into a disease.

• Private sectors such as banks, investors, stock exchanges and pharmaceutical companies: they invest heavily in research, analysing risk factors as well as commercial profitability and return on investment.

• Individuals: families, friends and supporters fund research through their associations and organisations. Direct donations to the researchers of their choice to focus on research and the development of treatment for the specific disease they are interested in.

Why give to France Lafora :

Research into Lafora disease depends mainly on private and individual donations due to its classification as a rare disease. The challenge is that funding for Lafora research competes with over 7,000 other orphan diseases. There simply isn’t enough funding to go round. What’s more, the small number of patients means that the pharmaceutical industry is unable to recoup the costs of researching and developing drugs to treat the disease. Our hope is that by raising awareness of Lafora’s disease, we can significantly increase funding for the research needed to find a cure.

Your generosity is the only way we can continue our current and future search for a cure.

Only by mobilising more people can we beat Lafora disease. So please, give as much as you can to help stop this deadly disease.

Your donation entitles you to a tax reduction of 66% of the amount paid, up to a limit of 20% of your total income.

You will receive the corresponding tax receipt by post if you send us a cheque for your donation, or by email to the address you give on the Pay Asso form if you pay online.

No personal information you send to the association is used for any purpose other than to contact you and keep you informed.
